The weather forecast was for progressively stronger rain through the morning and it turned out to be very accurate. In addition to the rain, we had strong winds to contend with too. Heat 1 - Allocated starting grid P5 of 8 and finished P2. A good start and excellent first lap got me a couple of places and I managed to grab another place in the second lap. With the difficult conditions, all drivers were fighting with their karts and around half of the session was lost due to a red flag incident. Fortunately, the driver was ultimately okay but for safety, didn’t continue in this heat. Heat 2 - Allocated starting grid P5 of 7 and finished P5. I wasn’t impressed with my allocated kart’s top line speed. I made up two places in the early stages of the race but couldn’t hold the position down the flat long straights. A Final - Qualified P7 of 10 and finished P6. The rain absolutely poured down as you’ll see from some of the pictures! It was a tough race for all… I had a few issues with a sticking throttle but managed to make the one overtake stick despite having to defend hard against Ethan Guest. Great fun racing! All in all, this was a great extreme wet weather racing experience for me. On to R5 in three weeks.
