A weekend of firsts and a very steep learning curve!
Our goal for the weekend was to bring the car home each time and then not be last in any race session. Friday practice was dry. Morning sessions were spent with my driver coach Matt. Afternoon sessions gave me a chance to drive on my own for the first time! Saturday... Quali - Dry... Out of a field of 16 : Race 1 - P12 / Race 2 - P13 / Race 3 - P12. Not bad for a newbie rookie! Race 1 - Wet .. P12>P12 - Held my position despite a big moment at the Old Hairpin. Happy that I saved it though, which was a big confidence boost. Sunday... Race 2 - Greasy .. P13>P13 - This was tougher than a fully wet race but I held my position. Race 3 - Dry .. P12>P11 - This was by far my best and most enjoyable race as I had some great battles, particularly with Joe. This felt like proper racing! All in all, we achieved what we set out to do this weekend, so I'm chuffed. I've learnt loads already but there's loads more to do. Can't wait to try to build on this great start at Brands. Congrats to all those that made the podium across the weekend. Thank you to my team : Shelia, my new racing mum, Alex for the spannering and advice, Will on data and Harvey for just being a mega dude all weekend! Thank you also to my driver coach Matt on Friday testing for prepping me for my first solo run. Thank you to the Donington circuit team and marshals and also my mates for coming along to support in person and also on the BARC live streams. As always, none of this would be possible without the amazing support of my family, my sponsors Camuri, Blue Flare and everyone who supports me through Sponsor Driven. Thank you all so much.
