A great evening with family and friends celebrating a mega year of racing. 💪 I won the 'Compassion' award, which, the words below from compere Jack Oliphant as he introduced the award, say so much about the strength of character needed to race whilst staying true to yourself, even at this grass routes level. So, overall, this is a pretty cool award! . . . 'The words compassion and Racing don’t normally overlap. But this is another example of the JSCC’s ambition to raise exemplary people, as well as rapid drivers. Compassion is never a sign of weakness, in fact it is the opposite. Drivers, teams, parents, everyone can become blinkered in their own world and what's is happening to them The ability to see beyond that can endear you to not only your team mates, but the paddock as a whole, creating the atmosphere that the JSCC is famous for. This really is what dreams are made of and I am so excited about this huge step up in my racing journey. I know how lucky I am to have this opportunity. Only three years have passed since I first got in a go-kart and back then, if somebody had told me where I'd be today, I'd have told them to go and give their head a wobble! I'm on a massive learning curve for sure but I'm hopeful I can get up to pace quickly. Thank you to the awesome Sheila, Alex and Harvey at Cursleys for entrusting me with 'Big G'. I'll do my best to bring him home in one piece and keep the wing mirror count down! I am so excited to be running with you guys this year. We're gonna have great fun! After an amazing but ultimately disappointing day yesterday, I just wanted to thank again both @jsccofficial and @orexcompetitionnw for the opportunity to showcase my skills.
I think I gave a good account of myself and am proud of the effort I put in both on the day and in the build up. Thank you to all the race teams, coaches, team leaders, drivers and their families for giving up their time to make the day so special. Thank you also to @perfectacceleration and @pembreycircuit marshals. Dad said to me at the start of the day to forget about the prize and just to have fun and think of it as a driver development day. I think all of us that participated learnt loads, met some amazing people and formed some new friendships. If you ever get the chance to participate in this scholarship in the future, then I'd really recommend you grab it with both hands, irrespective of whether you win or not. Huge congratulations again to @martinwrightracer for the win. I'd also like to thank the people that helped me prepare for the scholarship.. @karts2cars & @mphkartingacademy for the driver training. @the_motorsports_school for the driver training and ARDS test. @swift.performance for team building prep. JSCC drivers past and present for their advice and support - @harvey.cursley.racing @bensmiles_racing @bertie_bream_racing @tomalgarracing For me now, we regroup, rethink and go again... I was at Mallory Park this morning for an hour of pre-test on track tuition in the Fiesta. I then came in and did the written part of the course before heading back out in the Clio for the driving part. It was great to drive both cars on the day and build my experience in learning how each car handled. Thank you so much to everyone at @the_motorsports_school for the tuition and for guiding me through the day. Mel and Jamie my instructor from @jamsport_racing were amazing and helped calm my nerves! Next job... Get the form in the post to @ourmotorsportuk so I can get my junior race licence and now it's full focus on the @jsccofficial scholarship taking place in two weeks time!
