IT'S RACE WEEK! 🏁
Once again this Sunday, I will be returning to Daytona Milton Keynes but for a change I'm competing in two separate races! 😯. We have S3R7 of the Inkart championship but straight after that.... My good friends @oliver___philpott and @tomjustice57racing and I have entered the 3 hour endurance race in the SODI SR5 category. This is going to be a huge challenge for Tom and I as we'll be doing back to back races. We're up for it and can't wait to get on the track for what is a new experience for us all. We'll post stories throughout the day to update you all on how the endurance is going but for now let’s prepare for the week to come 💪 #karting #kartinguk #kartinglife #racing #racingcar #racinglife #engine #motorsport #x30 #Rotax #petrol #kartingemotionandpassion #JSCC

Storm Bert was still very much around this morning. High cross winds, a wet track and more rain forecast all morning! I was in the second group to go out and my practice session felt pretty good. I was second fastest in a kart that felt pretty stable despite the conditions but was maybe lacking a bit in top end speed. In my first heat, I was allocated a starting grid of P4. When the lights went out, I got a really good start and gained one position almost straight away. A lap later, I grabbed another position. For the remaining four laps, I got a little closer to Ethan but he'd led from the front and to the victory. P2 for me and two positions gained. For my second heat, I once again started P4. First lap carnage on turn three, resulted in me gaining two places. A lap later, I took P1! The race then settled down as drivers found their rhythm and I crossed the line P1 with a 3.2 gap to P2. The rain came back as drivers in the B-final got to the grid... From my two heat results, I was starting pole in the A-final, which was amazing and another first for me this season! When the A-final lights went out, I covered the outside so I could get a good exit out of the first corner, whilst defending against Ethan and Tom in P2 & P3. For the final, I was allocated a kart that seemed to have good straight line speed but felt a bit twitchy in the corners. Nevertheless, I managed to hold my position, although I did get a couple of track limits warnings.. but I'll use running slicks in the wet as my excuse for that! I was just keeping my head down and focussing on my race and wasn't really aware of the great battle going on behind me with four other drivers. The fact it was so close with those guys helped me keep a gap (but not much of one!) for the rest of the race and in the end, I brought home the victory, some 1.6 seconds ahead of Ethan in P2. So, another first this season... P1 in the A-final, to go with P2 & P3 in previous rounds. I hope this should really help my overall champsionship position. It’s been such a good day and I can’t wait do try replicate this next week in R7, and, hopefully, I’ll also be competing in a three hour endurwnce after that. A dry race would be nice! I'm so happy to announce that I have been able to secure a place in the 2025 JSCC scholarship, which will be held next February at Pembrey. The winner receives a funded seat in the 2025 championship.
This is a huge step from karts for me but I'm ready for the challenge! No matter what happens, I'll be giving it my all and will enjoy every moment! Thankyou to @jsccofficial and @orexcompetitionnw for organising the scholarship, my family and sponsors for their support and @bensmiles_racing for the great chats and advice. . . . . #JSCC #saxo #fwd #racing #racingdriver #racingcar A dry’ish track for a change this season but those out on the pre-event practice round soon discovered that turn one was greasy! Today was a cup format round with sessions of 15 minute practice, immediately followed by 5 minute qualifying. I was in the first group to go out and my practice session was solid and that form carried on into quali with me placing P2, some three tenths behind. Once the second practice and quali session finished, I found out that I was placed P3 on the grid for the A final. My best placing so far this season! Just before the start of the A final, some light rain was falling. At the start. I held my position and managed to avoid the first lap pileup in turn 2. I maintained my position for a couple more laps before grabbing P2. It only lasted for one lap though, as going into turn 10, I spun trying to pass on the inside, dropping back to 5th with around an 8 second gap to 4th. The rain cleared and I just got my head down. Zayn was clear in P1 but Tom, Harry & Theo were all battling hard for the remaining podium spots. After six more laps, I’d narrowed the gap and joined the pack. I passed both Harry and Theo to grab P3 but there was nothing to separate the four of us. On the final lap, Harry was trying to overtake both Tom & I on the grass but as Tom defended against Harry, I was able to slip by on the inside line and take P2. This was a great race against some great drivers. P2 is my best finish so far this season and just shows, never give up! Huge thanks and well done to everyone who made it exciting! On to R6 in a couple of weeks. Thank you to my family, my sponsors, Camuri Ltd & The MGroup and everyone who supports me through Sponsor Driven. . . . . #kartinguk #karting #racinglife #racing #nevergiveup
