Earlier this month, I joined Xkart at Whilton Mill circuit for a test day. I need to increase my driving time in Rotax powered karts and this was a great opportunity for me to do just that and also, see a little more of the behind the scenes activity around kart maintenance and set up. The weather was mixed all day... Some sunshine but some heavy showers too, so we were running all day on wet tyres. Another first for me!
During the day I had some highs and lows (and some spins!) but I'm growing in confidence and for my first time in a Rotax on a wet track, I was very pleased with how things went. The day was great and really helped me improve my abilities in a Rotax but I also made some new friends along the way. I spent the day learning from Xkart team drivers Leon Barlow & Finn Leslie. They were a great help and inspiration! I also spent the day and shared the track with the scholarship runners up Will Sparrow & Harry Cottrell and one of the best British karting drivers, Archie Clark. They were all really nice guys and it was great to learn from them too as they've all been karting from a much younger age, so it was great to hear their experiences. Thank you Xkart for a great day. #xkart

During the recent half term, I entered a Daytona junior sprint race in Milton Keynes and what a race it was!
It was a rainy morning and on a damp track for qualifying, I had to learn the wet lines. At the end of quali, I was P1 for the race by four seconds! We lined up on the grid for the start and waited for the five red lights to disappear. My start wasn't the best as I had compromised the outside line into the first corner which had more grip but I just managed to hold on to my position going into turn one. After this tense start, the race settled down and it was a fairly quiet one, as I was gapping second place by four seconds every lap! Before I knew it, I crossed the line in P1 after a solid drive and almost sixty five seconds in front of second place. Can't wait to return for another soon! |
