Last weekend, I went to @daytonamsport MK for another 20-minute Sodi SR5 practice, and I’m really proud of what I achieved! When I arrived, I had planned to use the GoPro to record a hot lap, but I forgot to take the cover off, so all we had was a black screen with noise! Anyway, we got out of the pits, and I had been assigned kart 18, which felt very responsive coming out of corners and had a great feeling to it, but sadly it couldn’t tackle the bounciness of the track. I had a few close encounters, but I did pull off some great moves through the traffic! In the end, I achieved a 01:14.573, which is nearly a whole second improvement from last time, which is very promising.

Last night I went to @teamsportkarting Reading with my stepbrothers, and we all had an amazing time!
Since I’ve been to Reading a few times, I was hoping to set some quick laps on the timing sheet. Session one started off quite positively. The competition and track were very good, with a mix of fast drivers that helped me learn race craft and how to deal with traffic. By the end of session one, I managed to get a 31.562, which I’m very happy with as I beat my previous personal best. Session two, however, was even better. We got out of the pit lane, and I was determined to beat my new personal best. In the pit lane, one of the marshals told me that the kart I was driving was one of the fastest in the fleet, which proved to be true after I finished. Not much happened in session two, with not a lot of traffic to deal with as everyone started to learn the track. During the middle of the session, I knew I needed to set a fast lap, and I didn’t disappoint as I set a 30.9. I’m now the 15th fastest ever around Teamsport Reading, which has really boosted my confidence and made me feel so proud of myself. In the third session, it was a pretty calm race, but after the first half, I came across a guy in a pink suit who intentionally turned down on me while going up the ramp, which was quite dangerous as I couldn’t back out in time and got wedged into the barrier. After I passed him, I was in clean air, which helped me set some consistent lap times. However, a few laps later, I came across the pink suit guy again, and once again he intentionally tried to wedge me into a barrier. This left me quite confused as I had respected the track marshalls and listened to the safety rules. Overall, it was a very good experience, as right now, I’m the 15th fastest driver around @teamsportreading , which has honestly put a smile on my face. For my fourteenth birthday, I was keen to revisit @daytonamsport Milton Keynes to drive the Sodi SR5s, which are a lot faster than the junior Biz Karts. We raced on the 1200m international layout, whereas the juniors run on the 900m national layout. I had a fantastic time and got used to the karts' behaviour really quickly, which helped me massively throughout the 20 minutes of running time. I came in P3 in the session, which for my first time in these Sodis, was pretty good! Another experience to remember! I celebrated with a little bit of Colin the Caterpillar cake. ‼️Stay tuned for upcoming events |
