A weekend of firsts and a very steep learning curve!
Our goal for the weekend was to bring the car home each time and then not be last in any race session. Friday practice was dry. Morning sessions were spent with my driver coach Matt. Afternoon sessions gave me a chance to drive on my own for the first time! Saturday... Quali - Dry... Out of a field of 16 : Race 1 - P12 / Race 2 - P13 / Race 3 - P12. Not bad for a newbie rookie! Race 1 - Wet .. P12>P12 - Held my position despite a big moment at the Old Hairpin. Happy that I saved it though, which was a big confidence boost. Sunday... Race 2 - Greasy .. P13>P13 - This was tougher than a fully wet race but I held my position. Race 3 - Dry .. P12>P11 - This was by far my best and most enjoyable race as I had some great battles, particularly with Joe. This felt like proper racing! All in all, we achieved what we set out to do this weekend, so I'm chuffed. I've learnt loads already but there's loads more to do. Can't wait to try to build on this great start at Brands. Congrats to all those that made the podium across the weekend. Thank you to my team : Shelia, my new racing mum, Alex for the spannering and advice, Will on data and Harvey for just being a mega dude all weekend! Thank you also to my driver coach Matt on Friday testing for prepping me for my first solo run. Thank you to the Donington circuit team and marshals and also my mates for coming along to support in person and also on the BARC live streams. As always, none of this would be possible without the amazing support of my family, my sponsors Camuri, Blue Flare and everyone who supports me through Sponsor Driven. Thank you all so much. It's finally here! We're off to Donington on Friday for practice ahead of the weekend's racing in round 1 of the JSCC.
My first time at the track, so practice day will be super important. So exited to get out there... A few nerves too but of the good kind! All racing on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd will be live streamed on the BARC YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/@britishautomobileracingclub Let's see what we can do! Thank you to Brandon Letchford for the photo used in this graphic. @cursleymotorsport @JSCCOfficial @BARCofficial Camuri BlueFlare #motorracing #motorsport #racing #racecar #racingdriver #juniordrivers Awesome test day with my team Cursley Motorsport at Snetterton circuit yesterday and my first opportunity to get behind the wheel of Big G (thank you Alex for the sticker...that means a lot!)
Lots to learn ahead of a fast approaching JSCC round 1 at Donington but with some fantastic coaching from Ash Miller and the support of the whole team, we made really solid progress through the day. It was great to spend some quality time with everyone in a relaxed testing environment and get to know each other better and how things typically run in the pit lane and paddock. It was also lovely catching up with some of the guys and their families that I met at the recent JSCC scholarship and also meet my teammates from the Coupe cup and UK Kart series. Thank you to Alex, Sheila, Lee & Jake on the spanners, Will on data and Ash for the coaching. This really is what dreams are made of and I am so excited about this huge step up in my racing journey. I know how lucky I am to have this opportunity. Only three years have passed since I first got in a go-kart and back then, if somebody had told me where I'd be today, I'd have told them to go and give their head a wobble! I'm on a massive learning curve for sure but I'm hopeful I can get up to pace quickly. Thank you to the awesome Sheila, Alex and Harvey at Cursleys for entrusting me with 'Big G'. I'll do my best to bring him home in one piece and keep the wing mirror count down! I am so excited to be running with you guys this year. We're gonna have great fun! None of this of course would be possible without the support of both my family and my sponsors. Thank you so much for everything! I had a great afternoon on Saturday at the workshop with Alex, getting my seat fitted and just going through the basics. Next up for me - Testing & driver training at Snetterton on 10th March. Can't wait to get going under the watchful eye of my driver coach @_ashmiller Camuri Ltd @blueflaregroup @wearesponsordriven #racing #motorsports #racecar #juniordriver |
